Introduction

Kantipur Engineering College admits students for BE education during August, September, and October in Civil; Computer; and Electronics, Communication & Information programs.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Procedure

Students willing to join KEC must pass the entrance examination conducted by the Institute of Engineering (IOE), Tribhuvan University. IOE conducts computer-based entrance tests in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English. All questions are of objective type and the time duration of the test is two hours in one sitting.

After passing the entrance examination, students must apply online for admission at KEC. KEC admits students based on the merit list (rank-wise of IOE Entrance) among the applicants applying at KEC. International students do not have to appear in the entrance test; a special entrance committee selects them for admission.

Scholarship and Excellence Awards

The college recognizes the significance of scholarships and excellence awards in encouraging academic excellence, providing financial assistance to deserving students, and promoting meritocracy in various aspects of student life. The Scholarship and Excellence Award aims to cultivate a culture of excellence and support the personal and professional growth of meritorious students.

Scholarship

The college offers four types of scholarships:

  1. Four-Year Scholarship
    In this scholarship scheme, all monthly and semester tuition fees for four years of study, as decided by the college management committee, are exempted.
  2. Semester Scholarship
    In this scholarship scheme, all monthly and semester tuition fees for an academic semester, as decided  by the college management committee, are exempted.
  3. Local Student Scholarship
    In this scholarship scheme, 35% of the total tuition fees for study, as decided by the college management committee, are exempted for students who are permanent residents of wards 23 and 24 of Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality.by the college management committee, are exempted.
  4. Teacher Staff’s Children scholarship
    In this scholarship scheme, 100% of the total monthly tuition fees and 50% of the total semester tuition fees for study, as decided by the college management committee, are exempted for students who are children of full-time employees of the college.
  5. Other Scholarships
    In addition to the scholarships mentioned above, the college offers rebates to female students who wish to pursue their studies at Kantipur Engineering College, aiming to promote their participation in all engineering programs. The college also provides merit-based rebates to students based on their rank in the IOE entrance examination.

Excellence Award

The Excellence Award at Kantipur Engineering College is designed to motivate students to excel in every aspect of their educational programs, including academics, extracurricular activities, and sports. The award promotes meritocracy and fosters a high level of academic environment within the college. Recipients of this award receive an honorable title along with a prize, medal, or cash reward.

Types of Excellence Awards

  • Semester Topper: Awarded to the student who secures the highest marks in the semester exams of each educational program.
  • Best Student Mathematician: Awarded to a second-year student in each batch who secures the highest cumulative marks in Mathematics I, II, and III.
  • Best Student in Drawing: Awarded to a first-year student in each batch who secures the highest cumulative marks in Engineering Drawing I and II.
  • Best Student Structural Analyst: Awarded to a third-year Civil Engineering student in each batch who secures the highest cumulative marks in Applied Mechanics, Strength of Materials, and Theory of Structures I and II.
  • Best Student in Electronics: Awarded to a third-year Electronics Engineering student who secures the highest cumulative marks in Semiconductor Devices, Microprocessors, Electronic Circuit II, and Signal Analysis.
  • Best Student Programmer: Awarded to a third-year Computer Engineering student who performs best in the minor project work.
  • Best Performer of Final Year Project Work: Awarded to the best group of students for their final year project work in each educational program.
  • IOE Toppers: Awarded to KEC students who secure the first position among IOE students in the semester results of their batch.
  • Girls Toppers: Awarded to the girl student who secures the first position in the semester results among the girl students in each batch of educational programs.
  • Laurel of the College: Awarded to a final-year student who has demonstrated outstanding performance in academics and other college activities throughout their college life.
  • Excellence Awards in Extracurricular Activities and Sports: Awarded to the best performer(s) in each extracurricular activity and sport. The type of award and selection criteria for these awards are determined by the Extracurricular and Sports Committee.
