B.E. In Civil Engineering

Engineering is an art based primarily upon training in mathematics and physical sciences and utilizing economically the forces and material of nature for the benefit of mankind. Engineering is concerned with designing, constructing and maintaining works of public utility. Civil engineering focuses on works like transportation, irrigation, and public health. The main role of civil engineering is planning, designing, estimating, and supervising construction, managing construction, execution and maintenance of structure that includes residential buildings, public buildings, industrial building, roads, bridges, tunnels, railways, dams, canals, airports, harbours, ports, water treatment plants, water supply networks and drainage networks.

Civil engineers are problem solvers and have always faced the challenges of thinking about the future, advancing civilization and improving our quality of life. There is huge demand for civil engineers in Nepal and it is also expected to get a boost as the country gets ready to upgrade its infrastructure with growing economic and political clout in the world. The career opens a lot of opportunities in numerous government departments. Career opportunities for these professionals are available with firms of both the private and public sectors. We can witness in our country the development of roads, buildings, hydropower and irrigation projects, water supply projects and other structures. This can also be one of the reasons why students of today are opting for civil engineering. After the devastating earthquake of   April 25th, 2015, National Reconstruction Authority was established for the reconstruction of damaged structure, where civil engineer can play crucial role. Besides this, job opportunities are obtainable for them abroad too. With the recent boom in the construction industry, the infrastructural growth within the country has gone up. The career scopes for civil engineers are many and they can get very lucrative careers.

With both the current worldwide construction boom and the wider debate regarding environmental policy, civil engineering has never been more relevant or important to society than it is today. With civil engineering practices affecting every area of the built environment, today we acknowledge the growing importance of a very diverse specialism within the infrastructure industry. Amongst all branches of engineering, the range and application of civil engineering is the broadest and most visible. One has to plan out, design and supervise the construction of different types of buildings/structure and architectures. For the developing country like Nepal, civil engineer is the best profession. There is huge scope of civil engineering for the development of country and prosperity of country and people.
